Like any Blue Man show, I envision this section to be very fluid and changeable.   As questions arise on the Message Board, I'll include them here, if they're asked over and over...

What's the name of the last song played in the show?
That's Last Train to Transcentral, by KLF.  BMG remixed their own version for the Live at Luxor show.  (I still think it's the BMG version for the Tubes shows as well, but I've been told otherwise...I'd sure like an official answer here...)

What do the Blue Men use for make up?
Make up?  What make up? :)

It's greasepaint by Mehron, in a color called Blue Man Blue, made solely for Blue Man Productions.

Is the Blue Man an alien?
No!  And he's not a mime or a robot, either.  There should be a special hell for people who continue to call Blue Man these things.

Well, then, what is the Blue Man?
This is a very thought-provoking topic, often debated on the Message Board, with some very insightful, deeply emotional answers.  My short answer is:  I believe the Blue Man is all of us, our inner selves, unspoiled and untouched by society's multiple hang-ups and expectations.  He's our forgotten ability to play and discover the world around us, to enjoy things at face value without cynicism and sarcasm.  He's our best selves, able to accept others without judgement.

How can I get my boyfriend's/girlfriend's/mother's/father's/dog's name in the pre-show LED messages?
Call the box office for the show that you're going to (click
here for phone numbers) and ask them if you can get your boyfriend's/girlfriend's/mother's/father's/dog's name put into the LED.  Be sure to mention the date and time of your show!

I just saw Blue Man in my home town.  Is this the same show that I'd see in New York?
No.  Unless you live in Chicago or Boston (and even then, it's still not the same show), what you saw was the touring rock show, The Complex Tour.

How are the shows different?
New York, Boston and Chicago are all variants of the same show: Tubes.  Las Vegas has a show called Live at Luxor, which omits a couple of things from Tubes, and adds some new ones, specially created for the larger space at the Luxor Theatre.  All four permanent venue shows are based around the music from Blue Man's first album, Audio.  The Complex Rock Tour show is completely different (except for one piece of music, and one bit of audience interaction), based around the music and concepts of Blue Man's second album, The Complex.  Check out my section on The Shows for details.

The LED sign on the left was way too funny!  Does he really have his own website?
Yes, self-promoting anti-establishment rebel that he is.  Read his propoganda at:

What's this about pomegranates?
It's an example of our Founders' (Chris, Matt and Phil) sense of humor.  Here's the story:

The original pomegranate reference is from the Unmasked section of the Complex page under Blue Man Group's Influence on Rock Music on the main site:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 2002, commercials for the Toyota Matrix blatantly ripped off the Blue Man sound and yet somehow managed to make the tubes sound wimpy and lifeless. Shortly after seeing the ads the rarely angry Blue Men decided to do something about this horrible co-optation of their signature sound, but soon became distracted from their rage by the sight of an extraordinarily colorful pomegranate seed. After that, they pretty much forgot about the whole thing.

The other reference to pomegranates is tied directly to the message board; it was in a thread on file sharing (which came about right after Lava/Atlantic posted the Sing Along single as a stream and someone captured it and shared it, then the entire Complex album showed up on the sharing scene, obviously ripped from advance copy CDs...). I was the only one taking the anti-sharing stance, and we were having a mature, intelligent debate on the pros and cons of file sharing. CMP chimed in with:

quote:

Here is our official stance on downloading; We feel very strongly that...wait is that a pomegranate? Excuse us we'll have to finish this post at another time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And of course, that was the end of any meaningful discussion on THAT thread.
