| When I'm not racking up frequent flier miles playing with the Blue Man, I'm an elementary music teacher in Michigan. I teach grades K-5 -- that's ages 4-11, more or less -- using the Orff Schulwerk pedagogy. (Carl Orff is best known for composing 'Carmina Burana', which often gets used as a temporary soundtrack for movie trailers when their own soundtracks aren't finished for the previews. But he also developed a brilliant method for teaching music that involves drama, singing, moving and playing instruments...pretty much everything I love to do. In addition to loving Blue Man Group, I enjoy reading, writing, making jewelry, going to the movies and live theatre, visiting museums, and traveling. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan; spent a year at Wayne State University in their undergraduate theatre program; and am currently 2 credits and one final project away from completing a Masters degree in Drama and Theatre for the Young at Eastern Michigan University. I love to laugh, although my sense of humor sometimes eludes others; I chalk this up to inheriting my mother's love of dark, dry humor. I share my day-to-day life with my mother, father, uncle, a cockatiel named Robin, a toy poodle named Toby, and a not-so-miniature Schnauzer named Smokey. I'm fascinated by meteorology, astronomy, and geology (particularly volcanology and seismology), as well as mythology, Egyptology and psychology, and probably some other -ologies that I just haven't had time to explore. I tend to be superstitious, and have a strong belief in the mystical...but not to the point that I'm gullible. Most of the time.
